The Policy Options Background Paper can be downloaded here.
The paper investigates the current policies in place across the globe, what the opportunities are for policy in Victorian legislation and what the next steps could be to realise how green roofs, walls and facades can be best supported by government policy. It is written for Victorian local councils, interested groups in the building industry, the Victorian Government’s Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure, and anyone else interested in how to support a significant increase in the number of green roofs, walls and facades being installed and maintained in Melbourne and Victoria.
This was written as part of the Growing Green Guide for Melbourne project, with support from a Policy Reference Group, which included representatives from the Cities of Melbourne, Port Phillip, Yarra and Stonnington, as well as a planning representative from the Department of Transport, Planning and Local Infrastructure.
Government can create policy to encourage development of, and ongoing maintenance of, green roofs, walls and facades.
